Sabatti double rifle hunt

View attachment 43787 Finally had a chance to try my sabatti out on some large game. Performed flawlessly. 60 yard running shot, the bullet hit the mark right where I aimed. The weight of a the sabatti was nice to carry around weighs less than my wife's 470 capstick. Anybody else out there hunted with sabatti double rifles or a 470 capstick? Would like to see pictures.

Double rifle for the Big Five in .470 Nitro Express

Good afternoon everyone
I would like some advice if possible.
I'm hoping too hunt the big five in a few years if still possible.
I put my eyes on a double rifle in .470 Nitro Express complete handmade by a Belgium gun maker.
Is this a good caliber too go for the big five or too heavy for leopard and lion?
The reason that is ask it is because if I order now I have my gun end 2017.
I takes about 640 hours too make the gun.

If I owned a classic double I would want the detail to look like this picture! It was posted here on AH and comes up from time to time as the server selects pictures to display!

When I took my bull last year he was with two others! He and the next oldest and biggest bull had no concern about the humans in their area. But the third bull always hung back a ways. This engraving says it all.

Professional Hunters Double Rifles

Without wishing to sound stupid ( which I am) how do some PH's manage to afford nice doubles which must cost many 10's of thousands. I don't know what a PH earns but can't guess it's that much ( $20-30k is my guess).

Are they just the wealthy chaps or treat it like an investment knowing a good double doesn't devalue much?

In Europe some well known hunters get free rifles from the likes of Blaser etc and wondered if it worked the same on the dark continent?

Sabatti 9.3x74r all opinions are welcome

So im looking for a versatile double to use for about anything, this would be my first double so I need a little advice. I have found the sabatti 9.3X74r Sabatti double all indications are the bores are in good shape (no dremel marks seen, but a 3 day inspection and return period is available) and the regulation shows impact at 1 3/4 inches apart (horizontally, dead level on the vertical) at 50 yards. Im am curious as to what ya'll think of this cartridge and rifle.

Well after shooting an excellent group with my Sabatti 500 NE
I bought another Sabatti new 470 NE
Guys i have heard some bad things said about Sabatti doubles but in my opinion they are an excellent investment as well as hunting rifle for dangerous game,further more the Sabatty's are being imported by Italian arms importers and selling for 2500 more than what i paid so i believe they will become a popular double rifle in the near future and will rocket in price so if you are really serious...

I hunt, nowadays, with a tiny Merkel double. Great sheep gun, all 6lbs 2ozs of it. Investment value? Amazing, worth more 'experienced' than new. But I'm not quife done wifh it, thanks. That's for wife to concern herself about. Later; after me. Oh, and it groups one ragged hole, 100 meters, Norma soldered core hunting ammo. Good 'nuff for me..

Doubles, an expensive enigma? No, not after this. Just get NRA insurance--it is good--then buy the rifle. Or, othereways, cannot insure somerging not...

500/416 NE Safari Express

Hi There
I have a 500/416 NE in Krieghoff and I am having a really tough time getting the rifle to regulate. 6 inches right and down in 70 yards ? Any AH fanatics with similar challenges ? They say that it inly regulates with factory WR ammo but with 410gr Woodleighs, although it is better I want to reload myself ... Thank for the help in advance !

Good Morning, Gun nuts!

Is there, by any chance, anyone here that hunts/shoots with either an Explora(Westley Richards) or a Paradox(H&H)? Or perhaps someone that has any experience or would like to share their opinions? I would just like to know what you think of a either?

Hey guys,

Is anyone willing to hazard a guess as to what kind of barrel life one could expect from a .375 H&H double, on average? Would it be a viable working rifle? As in a frills, practical double used for everything, thus resulting in a lot of range time and a lot of field time.

Hello,

I purchased a new production Sabatti in 450NE. I ready every single piece of information I could find on these rifles and decided to go for it. I spent a lot of time in talks with whosalehunter and IFG (importer) and felt comfortable. I purchased ejector model and 5 days later it showed up at my FFL. My initial impression was to check the muzzle for grinding and there was none. Barrel were very smooth and shiny typical of a hammer forged barrel. Wood to metal fit was great and wood...

Hello Everyone,
First thank you all for all the great information that is being offered here. I have learned a lot and continue to learn more every time I visit this forum. I do have some experience in using a 12 bore paradox (my grandpas) some English make but pretty darn powerful. He used to hunt Royal Bengal tigers back in the day in India with it.

Of late i have been fascinated to own a double. I wish to go to Africa in the next couple of years and as such in a quest for a good double....
