Over under double rifle question
Hello everyone, I realize I'm probably beating a dead horse with this question but I hope not too much. My question is regarding the Sabatti big bore express over under double rifle specifically in 470 nitro express (ejector model). My question is regarding the accoutrements on the rifle. Anyone that owns one or has handled one what are the sights like and also from what I have read the 470 and 500 ne models have double triggers, is that correct? And the butt pad doesn't appear to be too...

Double rifle jammed shut
Hi Guy's
Here's one for the gunsmiths out there. I fired two shots out of my Merkel 140 A-E .500NE, and now it won't open, the lever is almost solid. The lever moves enough to move the cross bolt maybe .010"/.020" and then it's solid. To me it feels like something has come adrift in the action and locking it up?? Loads were not hot and using Hornady brass. If it was a head seperation. I would of expected to still be able to open it??
Anyone heard of this with a Merkel or any other double?...

Jurassic Rifle
Heres one for you... Yesterday the bidding ended for the rifle used in Jurassic Park Lost World--or maybe not??? Some sources list the rifle used was a Butch Searcy 600NE; but this seller claims he had a "rifle" made by LOU ALESSANDRI AND SON that was used in the movie. It was an unmarked except for Lou Alessandri and Son, double "rifled" 12 ga. done up with all the stuff youd expect on a high end Double Rifle (quarter rib, claw scope mounts, express sights, etc). The brass cases are...

Heym 500NE
Hi Guys
I have finally ordered a Heym B88PH in 500NE from Chris Sells of Heym USA. Has anyone imported a rifle from abroad. Its still being finished in the Heym Factory but I have been checking on import Duty's, Vat etc. which seem to be astronomical.
Would like some comments in this regard

Ghost Ring sight for small Double Rifle
Hello All
I am the proud owner of a 300 Sherwood double, it has some minor issues that I am slowly working through, the problem is I cant see the sights, I don't want to fit a scope, the only other thing I came up with is a ghost ring, the problem with that idea is I would like to fit something period, can anybody point me towards a maker or a sight that may sit well on the rifle.
Regards Trevor

Merkel 141 Experiences
I was wondering if anyone owns or otherwise had experience with the Merkel 141 in any caliber. What are your impressions? I understand that regulation of the barrels can be adjusted by the shooter to alter point of impact for different loads and distances. How has that system worked for you in actual practice? How much adjustability is there? What kind of accuracy at, say 100 yards (scoped), would one reasonably expect to achieve? Thanks!

Browning double rifle
So I found a browning sa express over under rifle in 375 h&h. I have read mixed reviews on the forum about them. I don't know a lot about them but I know I like my brownings I own about 9 of them. This gun is made in Belgium about 1990. It has a VX 3 on it with quick detachable mounts. The gun is used but in great shape and is very reasonably priced. Does anyone have any input on these guns. Good or bad. Thanks

Price check used Heym
What's a used heym with worn bluing on the barrels worth these days?
450, 470 or 500 NE
Ejector
Pin less sidelock
Moderate portrait engraving
NOT a jumbo model
Claw mounts with premium scope
NOT with the extractor selection switch
Trying to assess fair market value as I contemplate a purchase. Price books are all over the place. This one is in roughly 90% condition. (A $1000 would restore it back to near mint as its been carried on a hunt or two)
Thanks!

New SIACE Double
Well I was wanting to get one of the round body VC 450/400's and had been saving for a bit, but was still a good bit under what I would need. I came across this really nice SIACE Alaskan 45/70 that I already had enough saved for. So guess what followed me home and the difference will go towards our 2018 safari. I have a couple boxes of the Federal 300gr ammo it is regulated for and have some test loads with 350gr and 405 gr softs that I will see if I can get them to work also. Time to get...

Krieghoff service
I own a KGun in 470 NE, bought it new a year or so ago. Managed to burr one of the screws that you use to fit a Dot site with, being a bit of a perfectionists I tried to order new screws. First contacted a few Gunsmiths and their response was all the same " Good luck with that"
The agent for Krieghoff here closed down so tried to contact Krieghoff Germany directly via their website, no luck there. Then I sent a message via Facebook and got a reply that someone would contact me. Got a mail...

Heym vs Kriegsoff Double Rifles
I have been lucky to find a Heym double for the same price as a new Krieghoff in the UK. The Heym is second hand unused and comes with a scope (I would change the scope anyhow). I was just wondering which of the two would be better in terms of build?? The cal is 375 H&H. Before anybody says it I know the little pawls might break, but how many people has this happen to?
Many thanks fellow chumrades!

Drilling or Combo gun as an alternative to a Double for Plains Game?
Though I'd love to go out and pick up a nice used double to use on Plains Game as a sentimental act- it's not in the cards financially right now. Like most, I too grew up reading the adventures of many of the great hunter/writers who used a Big Ole' Double Rifle on their Dangerous Game, and it would just be a great sentiment to hunt a Zebra, Warthog, or heck, any Plains game with a nice double.
But lately I've been very interested in the idea of using a 3 Barrel "Drilling" (2 Shotgun...

Shortening a ported double rifle to make nonported?
You guys have been great on the 404 Jeff and optics! I wonder if you could take off 2 1/2 inches off a ported 27 inch double barrel in 375 H&H and not screw up regulation?

Trigger Sequence
As I understand it, the standard arrangement for double triggers on a side by side is for the front trigger to fire the right barrel and the rear trigger to fire the left barrel. Or if a single trigger, it selected the right barrel first, then the left barrel (based on the process that it is more natural for the shooter to press the front trigger, then continue the motion of his finger to the rear trigger). When John Olin was having his company build Model 21s for him, he had them reverse...

Those thinking about buying a first double rifle
Those thinking about buying a first double rifle. I believe that it is common in the USA that most folks think of a double rifle as either too expensive, or not suited to hunting anything smaller than an elephant, or both. Nothing could be farther from the truth.
The double rifle is the only rifle you can have that started it's life as a hunting rifle. All other types started out as a war weapon, and then was applied to the hunting fields. Since it is the only true hunting rifle, that...

Winchester 21 Double Rifle?
In a conversation recently I was told that due to it's strength (compared to other SxS shotguns) that the Winchester Model 21 is "readily" changed from a shotgun to a rifle, particularly rifles chambered for the large rimmed African cartridges. Does anyone know if this has been done and would it be feasible to have a M 21 with a set of 12 ga barrels and have it interchange with a set of rifles such as 450/400? I know that given enough money anything can be built, but I'm referencing...
